Lawyers need to innovate

Innovation has really come slow to law firms internationally and more so here in the States. What is innovation and how can innovation make a difference to the way legal services are provided to end clients?
The answer is fairly simple. Technology.

Law firms need to use technology in order to;
  • Increase efficiency. There are hardly any integrated solutions (which have been custom built for the legal industry) that include time and billing, client portals, document management etc. We realize this will change in the next couple of years. This will increase the volume of legal work handled by each individual attorney.
  • Increase transparency Client facing portals need to be the order of the day where clients can see the progress of cases, billing and the associates working on their cases - seeing work performed real time would be neat.
  • Reduce costs. If there are efficiency gains - there will be a reduction in cost. This reduction needs to be passed on to the end client so the volume of legal work that is being performed increases.
  • Create value propositions. Through leveraging and combining options like legal outsourcing and technology, they need to present value propositions that are compelling to clients and can actually drive volume up - substantially
